Northern Illinois Alpaca Show

Northern Illinois Alpaca Show

On Friday Oct. 22 ND, Jim andCindy took off for their annual drive through Chicago to the Northern Illinois Show. What fun it is driving our big trailer around Chicago. As always, the show was very well run and our thanks go out to Ray, Jim, and Larry for putting on yet another excellent show. We had about 130 Suris which was more than any other Fall show so far.

Our Black girl, Linnet, started us off with another 1st place. Santana followed in a very difficult Brown Yearling Class and took 1st and Champion. Rocket was 2nd in another large beige class and then the fun really began. In one of the most difficult White Yearling Male classes I have ever seen, Sunny was 1st out of 11 and Kody was 3rd.  What really made it fun was that Sunny took theChampionship and another Crown Royale male (who had won the previously shorn Yearling class), SBS Crown Prince Killain, was Reserve Champion. Killian is owned by Randy and Barb Ahlers from Eau Claire WI.  In addition, Ashe, our Crown Royale and Arizona Sage girl won the White Yearling Female class but there weren’t enough for a Championship.  Kody, Rocket, and Ashe combined to win the Breeders Best Group.

Once again, we did extremely well at what Ray Rodriquez calls the Sweetbriar Sweepstakes. Another lovely drive around Chicago and we were home early Monday morning. With trips to Maine, Michigan, and now Illinois over the past 10 days, Jim has put over 3000 miles on the truck in that short period of time. Sure is nice to have a weekend off before heading off to Springfield, Ohio for the last Fall show.
