About

Sweetbriar Suri is home to the world’s greatest lifestyle investment—Suri Alpacas.

The Sweetbriar Suri Alpaca Farm was founded in 1996 when Gini discovered an “al–what” at the Great Geauga County Fair. Gini started the business and in 1999 Jim left the corporate world to join her.

Sweetbriar is located on a 70 acre “Ohio Western Reserve” farm, surrounded by park and a myriad of wildlife. Raising Alpacas is our family’s full-time business.

Jim & Gini Barker

Gini’s participation in halter and fleece judging programs and Jim’s participation with the show committee have helped them to successfully select and breed for superior fiber, add luster, enhance lock, and improve the Suri hand along with strengthening conformation and genetics. Currently, Jim serves on the Board of the Suri Network and Gini is a past Board member.

Sweetbriar offers breedings to their champion herdsires: 6Peruvian Accoyo Crown Royale (MAPACA and AOBA National Suri Get of Sire winner in ’03), Peruvian Maverick, and Sweet Foxfire Jax and now SBS Roulette, Renegade, Onyx, and Christoph as well as another Full Accoyo, Don. See our herdsire listing for several of our newer males who are now producing incredible results. You might want to pay particular attention to what SBS Cavalier is producing. He is letting the Dams color through.

We have a wide range of colors and offer only our best for sale. With over 80 award-winning Peruvian Suri Alpacas, we are large enough to offer an excellent selection and small enough to offer personalized attention, support, and education for our clients. Our outstanding show record speaks for our superior fiber, conformation, and genetics.

Members: AOBA, ARI, OABA, The Suri Network, & MAPACA
